Third Minesweeping Mission along China-Vietnam Border Has Removed 18,000 Explosives since November, 2015

(People's Daily Online)    08:57, June 06, 2016

‪‎China‬ started the third minesweeping mission along China-‪‎Vietnam‬ border since November, 2015. In over 200 days since then, 18,000 explosives have been removed. The mission covered 30 townships in six counties in southwest China’s ‪Yunnan‬ province.

More than 400 soldiers from the ‪PLA‬ Chengdu Military Area Command took part in the mission in Yunnan to remove the explosives left during the 1979 China-Vietnam War. Conducted in the Wenshan Zhuang and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, this is the PLA’s third demining mission along the border. Previous sweeps were conducted between 1992-1994 and 1997-1999.
