Chinese, Kyrgyz foreign ministers meet on bilateral relations

BISHKEK, May 22 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks here on Sunday with his Kyrgyz counterpart, Erlan Abdyldaev, on relations between their two countries and other major issues of common concern.

During the talks, Wang said China attaches importance to its good-neighborliness and friendship with Kyrgyzstan, and is willing to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with Kyrgyzstan from a strategic height and long-term perspective, to ensure the operation of bilateral relations at high levels.

The Chinese side highly comments on Kyrgyzstan's adherence to the one-China policy and supports Kyrgyzstan's efforts for safeguarding sovereignty, security and national development, Wang said.

The Chinese side appreciates Kyrgyzstan's positive response to China's initiative on the construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and hopes and believes that Kyrgyzstan will become an important partner of cooperation in the joint construction of the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, Wang noted.

The Chinese side is willing to promote production capacity cooperation with Kyrgyzstan and assist Kyrgyzstan in strengthening the development of national industrialization to promote its capacity for self-development, said the foreign minister.

Wang also expected the two countries to deepen law enforcement and security cooperation, to safeguard common security; strengthen exchanges in such areas as culture, education, youth affairs, tourism; and strengthen cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

Speaking on the same occasion, Abdyldaev said the Kyrgyz side attaches great importance to its relations with China, and is willing to become a most reliable partner to China.

The Kyrgyz side will firmly adhere to the one-China policy, and is willing to work with the Chinese side to jointly launch in-depth cooperation in such fields as production capacity, infrastructure and energy, to jointly fight the "three evil forces" of terrorism, separatism and extremism, and to maintain cooperation and coordination within the framework of the SCO, Adhyldoev said.
