Irregular note withdrawn from ATM in S. China

A man surnamed Lu in southern China’s Guangdong province recently withdrew a 100-yuan note that is darker and smaller from a local ATM. However, after authentication, the note is genuine and legal for circulation.

 

Issued in 2015, the note has a darker red shade compared with a regular 100-yuan note. Though the watermark is fairly distinct, it is a few millimeters shorter than a normal 100-yuan note.

 

According to a clerk of the bank, problems may happen during currency production. The note may have been soaked in water, hence the darker color. However, they can’t explain the size difference.

 

The bank cannot confirm whether the note is worth collecting.
