Hero pig to be preserved after death

A heroic pig that survived the 2008 earthquake in China's southwestern Sichuan province is now 9 years old, and could be one of the longest-living pigs in the world. The museum where it now lives recently decided to make it into a specimen after its death, a local newspaper reported on Tuesday.

The pig was buried in ruins for 36 days, yet surprisingly managed to survive by eating charcoal and drinking rainwater after the quake. It was later hailed as a national hero after its harrowing ordeal.

Now in its ninth year of life, the pig eats 20-30 kilograms of corn and spends 1 hour walking every day. The museum has decided to honor the pig by preserving it after its death.
