Dogs are wonderful, loving and intelligent. They can do lots of things that people can do, such as surfing, skating and even driving cars, although their driving skills may still need a little work...
A Surf Dog competition is held every September in Huntington Beach, California. Sixty-five dogs participated in the competition last year.
During the competition, the dogs were judged on a variety of skills including how long they were able to stay on their boards and their confidence while surfing.
Many competed alongside their owners, with the dogs wearing life jackets to make sure they could take part safely.
In addition, there were two dogs that returned to the shore on the same surfboard after riding the waves in the Surf City Surf Dog contest, which is in its seventh year.
In Lima, Peru, a 4-year-old bulldog, Otto, skated through the legs of 30 people to set a world record.
As the animal passed through the final “bridge,” a big crowd sat nearby on the grass, watching. People erupted with joy when the world record was successfully set.
A cameraman later wrote online: “Following the recent tragic passing of the world's fastest dog Tillman, could Otto the bulldog from Lima, Peru, be the next rising star?”
Tillman, born in the U.K., set a world record for the fastest 100 meters traveled by a dog on skateboard in 2009, clocking in at 19.678 seconds.
However, he sadly died last month at the age of 10 after having heart and respiratory problems.
Recently, a truck reportedly rolled out of a trailer dealer’s parking lot and mounted a curb close to a gas station, striking a tree and a parked car along U.S. Highway 169 in Mankato, Minnesota. People were stunned to discover that the driver was a yellow Labrador.
Fortunately, a passerby jumped into the cab and managed to put it in park. There were no injuries. No citations were issued. Police said the dog accidentally popped the idling vehicle into gear while the driver was inside a nearby store.
This dog probably saw some videos online of other dogs driving and wanted to be as cool as they were. Can’t fault his ambition!
