A 70-year-old man was detained recently for puncturing hundreds of vehicles' tires to relieve sorrows after his son died of cancer, QianJiang Evening News reported Tuesday.
The man surnamed Sun was from Lishui, a prefecture-level city in China's east Zhejiang province. According to local police, since 2014, over 1,000 tires were punctured by the old man with scissors and other tools.
The solitary old man would do this to relieve his sorrows after losing his son. He usually committed the crime in the early hours of the morning and selected cars parked in remote areas.
At first, he punctured one or two each night, but later more and more, the police said, adding that over 30 vehicle's tires were damaged on just one night.
The case now is under further investigation.
