Courier with one arm: Do not let a setback beat you (3)

34-year-old Xing Liang has been a courier in Changchun since 2008. For the past 7 years, he’s started work at 8am, clocked off at 6pm, and delivered over 120 items a day. His record was 315 deliveries in a day. Xing is a star courier at the company with zero complaints. Different from other couriers, these achievements mean even more to Xing because of his disability.

Xing Liang was born with a disabled left arm. Having a difficult time at school, at the age of 14, Xing started to earn a living by himself. He has worked as grocery seller, welder, auto mechanic and insurance salesman… all of these experiences have made Xing tough enough to face the difficulties of life. One of Xing’s friends who is also disabled once tried to convince Xing to beg for money due to his weakness. Xing refused, saying he would rather starve to death than lose his dignity begging for a living. With his current job, Xing Liang is the appointed courier for several clients, because they trust him with their goods more than anybody.

Xing met his wife Liu Yang when he saved her from a pyramid scheme. Despite Xing’s disability, Liu was deeply touched by his optimistic spirit and hardworking character; she married him with her full heart, and lives a happy and fulfilling life.

“Instead of being beaten, I beat my setback.” Xing rarely complains about his hardship in life, but living even more optimistically with all the dignity than normal people.
