A flight operated by Air China, one of the country’s major airlines, made an emergency landing on Wednesday to save a passenger who suffered from kidney stones.
The flight, carrying over 200 passengers, was supposed to fly from Singapore to Beijing. But a 37-year-old passenger named Xu Zhanfu experienced an acute kidney stone episode while the plane was in the air.
After learning about the emergency, the involved airports, airlines, customs and crew agreed to land the flight in Sanya, a city on the southern end of China’s Hainan Island.
After Xu was taken to the hospital, the flight continued toward its original destination. Xu, who received timely treatment, fully recovered in the local hospital. He said that he was very grateful for everyone’s help.
