At the invitation of President Vladimir Putin of the Russian Federation, Xi attended the seventh BRICS Summit on July 8 and 9, as well as the 15th Meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States on July 9 and 10 in Ufa, Russia.
The BRICS countries should forge a community of common destiny in a bid to strengthen the basis for cooperation, said Xi when delivering a speech at the seventh BRICS summit in Ufa, the capital of Russia's Republic of Bashkortostan.
In his speech at the SCO summit, Xi called for upholding the "Shanghai Spirit" of mutual trust, mutual benefit, equality, consultation, respect for cultural diversity and pursuit of common development, in a bid to build a community of common destiny in the region.
