Both the mother and child survived after intervention by medical teams in Aleppo [Facebook/Aleppo City Medical Council] |
Footage has emerged of Syrian medical teams saving a pregnant woman and her unborn child after they were wounded by shrapnel, according to a report from Daily Mail on Sunday.
The incredible video captures the moment doctors pull the baby girl from the womb with a piece of shrapnel implanted in her tiny brow.
The healthcare workers are from Aleppo City Medical Council, a non-profit medical service in the city.
The baby gave a full cry after they successfully removed the debris from her head, leaving a finger-sized wound.
The miraculous video was posted on Facebook on Friday with both mother and baby said to be recovering well in hospital.
Although the baby has not been named, elated doctors suggested she should be called Amal, meaning 'hope' in Arabic
The author of the post also blamed the attack that injured the pair, which it said was carried out by "the criminal regime, which is trying to stop life in the city of Aleppo".
Aleppo is Syria's largest city and is divided between Syrian opposition fighters, the Syrian government and Kurdish forces.
Syria has been embroiled in a vicious civil war since the uprising against Bashar al-Assad in 2011.
An estimated 320,000 people have been killed and an estimated 4 million have been forced from their homes amid fighting between Assad's forces, Islamic State terrorists, and other militant and rebel groups, said Daily Mail.
