Beijing’s PM 2.5 reaches record low for 8 consecutive days

According to the statistics released by the Municipal Environment Protection Monitoring Center, Beijing's PM 2.5 reaches a record low for 8 consecutive days after emission reduction measures being carried out since Aug.20.

To ensure the blue sky during the V-day parade, private vehicles are banned from the roads every other day according to their plate number, and 1927 industrial enterprises have stopped or limited production around the ceremony. In addition, surrounding areas such as Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and Tianjin have carried out measures to guarantee the air quality of Beijing.  

According to Beijing Environment Protection Bureau, the next step is to strengthen supervision and inspection, especially for the dust pollution and outdoor barbecue etc. At the same time, surrounding six provinces and municipality will carry out safeguard measures to ensure the air quality from Aug. 28. Key measures should be taken in electric power, steel, petrochemicals factories and the control the number of vehicles into Beijing.

More strict emission reduction measures will be carried out in case of adverse weather from Aug.20 to Sept.3.
