SYDNEY, Aug 20 - On Chinese Valentine’s Day, which is also known as Qixi Festival, BridgeClimb invited four Sydney based Mandarin-speaking couples to the city’s most spectacular location, the summit of Sydney Harbour Bridge, for a unique display of romance and talent.

The event celebrated the connection between loved ones, with the Bridge a perfect symbol for the annual meeting point of the two banished lovers at the centre of the mythological tale behind Qixi.

On the 134 meters high summit, bridge had been decorated for the occasion in red drapes, the colour of love and of Chinese celebration. With the sweet sounds of a violinist performing a rendition of The Moon Represents My Heart, four male companions had each secretly prepared a performance for their girlfriends, including a moving song dedication, a poetry reading and a romantic dance routine. All the female partners were moved by their partners.

Afterwards, the overjoyed couples were treated to a romantic finale high above Sydney Harbour, as the violinist played Celine Dion’s classic love song, My Heart Will Go On.

Jie Zhou said, “The music Yaowei chose has a special meaning for us, so when the music started, I was touched by it. He is a warm man, I feel very sweet at this moment. Climbing Harbour Bridge at Qixi is meaningful.”

In recent years, BridgeClimb has hosted many special events and created several Climb products connected to Sydney’s globally renowned festivals, such as Vivid Sydney and Chinese New Year.

The climb leader Alex Chen said, “In the future, we will organize more activities based on Chinese culture in order to promote a further communication between Chinese and western culture.”
