Romantic economy heats up along with Chinese Valentine’s Day

Aug. 20, the seventh day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar is the Qixi Festival, which is also called Chinese Valentine’s Day. In the legend, the seventh daughter of the Emperor of Heaven and an orphaned cowherd fell in love, however, they were only allowed to meet once a year on the day of seventh day of seventh lunar month.

Along with the Qixi Festival, malls in Fuzhou have been decorated elaborately to create a romantic environment and win business opportunities. Many young people also buy presents to give their lovers surprises.
