Zhengzhou, capital city of central China’s Henan Province sprinkles water on the city roads once every two hours to deal with haze. In addition, the city also uses a variety of dust suppression equipment.
According to an official with the city’s environmental protection bureau, Zhengzhou uses 35,000 tons of water every day; the price of water is 3.05 yuan per ton, which costs about 107,000 yuan per day. Some citizens doubt whether it is worth to use the precious water resources in exchange of the improved air quality.
