Zhao Jinshun, 100 years old, acquires her Literacy Certificate through diligent work within 10 days this June in Sanbao community, Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province. Zhao's eldest son, gray-haired as she is, gives a thumbs up for her, "Mom's the best!”
Earlier in June, news spread that the Sanbao community opened literacy class. Zhao went to the class as the most elder student the volunteers could ever possibly imagine. Having not received any schooling before, Zhao learned for two hours for a consecutive ten days, knew over 100 characters, and passed the exam to achieve her literacy diploma. She can now read and write the Chinese characters of her name, her home address, "celery," "fish" and many more.

"Mom knows how hard life can be when you are illiterate," said the eldest son of Zhao who has a bachelor"s degree. "That's why she insisted that we should get our education despite of the economic deficiency in our family."
