
The proportion of reported domestic violence cases against men has been on the rise, the New Express has reported.
From 2009 to 2011, the proportion of men who were victims of domestic violence increased. From 6 percent in 2009 and 7.5 percent in 2010, the number more than doubled to 18.3 percent in 2011, according to data released by a court in Guangzhou. Some 27 percent of divorce cases involved violence, according to the court record.
At the end of 2014, it was reported that men were victims in 14.5 percent of domestic violence cases, while women were victims in 72.1 percent, according to an anti-domestic violence report released by Guangzhou's municipal Women's Federation.
