KUALA LUMPUR, Dec. 26-- The joint table top exercise (TTX), named "Peace and Friendship 2014," between the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) wrapped up here Friday at the Malaysian Armed Forces Joint Warfare Center.
This is the first time for the two sides to host the joint TTX, which involves 22 personnel from MAF and 21 from PLA.
During the five days' exercise, the two sides focused on subjects such as navy and air force projection, combined joint escort, combined joint search and rescue, combined joint rescue of hijacked vessel and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief ( HADR), etc. They also shared experiences on the mechanisms of the involvement of military in the actions of HADR.
Both sides spoke highly of the TTX, saying it has reached the intended purpose of promoting mutual understanding, friendship and trust. The TTX was believed to be a positive trial on the joint exercise and training between the two sides, laying solid foundation for their further cooperation in HADR and opening a new chapter for their security cooperation.
The two sides said that they would like to take this opportunity to continue to promote their friendly cooperation, maintain close coordination and interaction, push forward bilateral relationship, and enrich the content of the China- Malaysia all-round strategic partnership.
Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Huang Huikang, Deputy Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Chinese Ministry of National Defense Major General Hu Changming, and Malaysia Joint Forces Commander Lieutenant General Ackbal Abdul Samad attended the closing of the TTX.
The Chinese participants of the TTX will return to China on Friday.
