KABUL, Dec. 3-- Militants offensives presumably conducted with the support of insiders affiliated with the Taliban outfit have claimed the lives of 10 security personnel including four police and six army soldiers over the past three days, officials said.

In the latest militants attack, a group of militants raided a police checkpoint in Darzab district at Jauzjan province with Shiberghan as its capital, 390 km north of Kabul, on Wednesday, leaving four police dead, provincial police chief Faqir Mohammad Jauzjani said.

"The armed insurgents attacked a police checkpoint in Darzab district at 02:00 a.m. local time today killing four police personnel," Jauzjani told Xinhua.

However, the police chief Jauzjani didn't rule the involvement of Taliban insider in the attack, saying investigation has been initiated into the case to determine the reason.

In a similar attack which happened in Balamirghab district of Badghis province with Qala-e-Naw as its capital, 555 km northwest of Kabul, late Monday night, six soldiers were killed and another went missing, a senior military commander in the province, Daud Shah Wafadar said.

"Taliban militants raided a checkpoint of the Afghan national army in Joiganj village of Balamirghab district late Monday night killing six soldiers and another missing, who presumably fled away with the insurgents," Wafadar told reporters.

The official, didn't rule out Taliban penetration in the incident, saying the soldier escaping with the militants could be a Taliban man who might have assisted the insurgents in conducting the bloody attack.

Insider offensives or "green on blue" attacks have claimed scores of lives from Afghan security personnel and the NATO-led forces servicemen over the past years in Afghanistan.
