Editor's note:
From June 1985 when he was transferred to serve in the city of Xiamen to October 2002 when he resigned from the provincial governor's post, Xi Jinping spent over 17 years in southeast China's Fujian province, devoting himself to the reform and opening up and modernization of the place and leaving a deep impression on the people there. He has made two inspection visits back to Fujian after he left his post there.
A military political work conference was held in a former revolutionary base in the township of Gutian, Fujian province from Oct. 30 to Oct. 31, 2014. Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), delivered a key speech at the meeting on Oct. 31. For three consecutive days from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1, Fujian Daily published three front page articles recalling Xi's 17 years of work in Fujian province.
Following is a group of pictures compiled by People's Daily Online reporters showing the life and work of Xi in Fujian.
