Chinese government appoints, removes officials

BEIJING, Sept. 12 -- The State Council, China's Cabinet, on Friday announced a number of appointments and removals of government officials.

Xin Changxing was appointed director of the State Administration of Civil Service, and Yin Weimin, head of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, will no longer concurrently hold the post.

Dai Bohua and Xu Hongcai were both named assistant minister of finance, and Liu Hongwei was removed from the post. Tang Tao and Kong Changsheng were both appointed vice ministers of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, replacing Yang Shiqiu and Wang Xiaochu.

Chen Chenzhao and Yuan Ye were appointed as deputy auditor-generals of the National Audit Office, replacing Dong Dasheng and Yu Xiaoming, while Li Xiaozhong was named senior auditor of the office.

Wang Kang was named deputy director of the State Administration of Taxation, and Song Lan no longer occupies the post.

Zhou Ning was named assistant director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council. Cai Fang has become vice president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.

Qiu Hong was appointed deputy head of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and Yao Jian was appointed deputy head of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region.

Ou Qingping and Hong Tianyun were both named deputy heads of the State Council Leading Group Office of Poverty Alleviation and Development.
