Gorbachev to Revisit Jeju of South Korea

Former President Mikhail Gorbachev and former President Roh Tae-woo, who established diplomatic relations between Moscow and Seoul in 1991, are scheduled to meet again on the southern resort island of Jeju(cheju).

They plan to meet Nov. 17 at the Hotel Shilla in Jeju. Hotel officials said Mr. Gorbachev will stay in the Royal Suite where he stayed 10 years ago with his wife. Hotel employees call the suite "Raisa's Room," after the former Soviet first lady, who died in 1999.

The two former leaders are expected to discuss promoting bilateral relations between Korea and Moscow.

Mr. Gorbachev's trip to South Korea will last from Nov. 16 through 21. He is making this visit with a group of Russian investors in South Korea.

He is expected to meet also with President Kim Dae-jung and Prime Minister Lee Han-dong, to discuss South Korean investment in Russia.
