Mobile Phone Users Exceed Five Million in Shanghai
Shanghai has more than five million mobile phone users, the largest figure reported by a Chinese city, with four million of them clients of Shanghai Mobile.
Shanghai Mobile is the largest mobile telecommunication service in the city, China's financial hub.
The company has invested six billion yuan ( about 750 million US dollars) to expand its network capacity and will be able to provide services to nine million users by the end of this year.
The annual growth rate of mobile phone users stands at 85 percent, experts said, adding that a large proportion of the new consumers will be students.
Shanghai now on average gains a new mobile phone user every two and a half minutes.
