"Sunshine" Village for Orphans, Needy Children in NE China

A children's village, designed especially for orphans resulting from family violence and needy children has been set up in Shenyang, capital of northeast China's Liaoning Province.

At present, 24 such children are living in the village which covers 7,000 square meters in located in Shenyang's Dongling District.

Of the children, aged from six to 16, two are receiving pre-school education, 12 are in primary school and 10 are in middle school. Their mothers were imprisoned for killing husbands because of family violence.

These children will go back home when their mothers finish their prison terms. The village is responsible for helping these children complete their school education and find jobs before their mothers finish their prison terms.
