Plane Crash Kills 10 Crew Near Moscow

A cargo plane Il-76 crashed near a Moscow military airport Saturday morning, killing its all ten crew aboard , said a Russian Defense Ministry spokesman.

The transport plane, leased by civilians, fell to the ground from a height of about 500 meters and caught fire while it was taking off from the airfield Chkalovsky, Nikolai Deryabin, the spokesman for the ministry, told reporters here.

The ten crew members aboard the aircraft were killed in the crash, but nothing on the ground was damaged, he said.

The cargo liner belonged to the commercial airline Rus and was piloted by civilians with permission for the flight. It was carrying building materials and perfume goods from Moscow to the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk, according to the spokesman.
