State Councilor on National Defense Awareness
Chinese State Councilor Chi Haotian Thursday called for raising the people's awareness of national defense.
Chi, also Chinese defense minister, made the call in an interview with Xinhua and the People's Daily on the promulgation of the law on national defense education.
The National People's Congress adopted the law last month, which went into effect on April 28.
The minister said the law is of great significance to raising national defense awareness of the citizens, which constitutes a solid base to achieve sustained peace and stability.
Chi also urged all related departments to publicize and study the law on national defense education.
