CCTV to Launch New Channel on Education, Science and Culture

Sensing the channel specialization trend in the new century, the China Central Television Station (CCTV) will further deepen the reform on its contents with the CCTV-10 currently in blueprint.

The CCTV-10, a channel specialized in programs on education, science and culture, is said to be ready in the later half of this year.

According to insiders, the non-news programs of the CCTV-1, consisting of "Science and Technology Review", "Approaching Science", "Ever So Red Afterglow" and "Human and Nature", "Starry Sky of Fine Arts", "Readers' Time" and "Propping up Half the Sky", etc., will be shifted to CCTV-10, forming a special channel on science, technology and education. And the current CCTV-1 will be reshaped into a channel focusing on news only.
