Dalai Nur Lake Listed as Important Asian Marsh

Dalai Nur Lake in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, a habitat for 134 species of birds, was recently listed among the important marshes in Asia for its value in scientific research.

The nature reserve, with an area of 110,000 ha, is the second largest fresh water lake in Inner Mongolia. The ecological environment is composed of lake, marsh, grassland and woods, with 35.8 percent being marshland.

Birds, including the red-craned bird, have settled down in the reserve for the area's high sea level, adequate sunlight, rich food and pollution-free water.
