Official Encourages Taiwan Investors to Motherland's West

No matter how the cross-Straits relationship tends to, lawful rights and interests of Taiwan investors in China's mainland will get protected and the central government encourages them to invest in China's western regions, said Chen Yunlin, director of Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council December 21.

Starting from December 19 Chen made an inspection tour to Sichuan Province and made the remark there. The official visited the Dingtian Science Park located in the Chendu Broadway Computer City, Deyang, and the Cross-straits High-tech Park at Wenjiang of Chengdu.

Chen asked in detail about business operations by Taiwan investors in the province and made some suggestions. He said that Taiwan is experiencing a third round of industry transition with microelectronics at the core. So it is of crucial importance whether the western areas can seize this opportunity to pursue for a further development.

When inspecting the Cross-straits High-tech Park, the official expressed his hope that more Taiwanese could come to China's west as there would mean more opportunities for them. In the meantime, he made it clear whatever will happen to the changes of the relationship between the two sides of the Straits, lawful interests and rights of the Taiwan investors in the motherland will be securely guaranteed.
