China to Reinforce Agricultural Development in Western Area
China will reinforce agricultural development in its vast western area, according to a national forum on farming high-tech.
The forum was hosted recently in the Yangling Agricultural High-tech Zone in northwestern Shaanxi Province. Speaking at the forum, Zhang Baowen, the vice-minister of agriculture, said that the Ministry of Agriculture will work out a series of profitable policies to improve farming development and the rural economy in the western area.
At the same time, the ministry will introduce a number of agricultural high-tech projects for the area on high-quality seeds, harvest endurance, animal protection and poultry breeding.
In addition, the ministry will pour more funds into such agricultural infrastructure programs as water-saving facilities and animal husbandry technology.
