South China City Hosts Personnel Meeting in Beijing

Xiamen, a coastal city in east China's Fujian Province, hosted a personnel meeting December 19 in Beijing to attract domestic and overseas professionals.

Chen Weiqin, vice mayor of the city, said that Xiamen has made a five-year plan to turn the city into a regional development center of high-technology, tourism and shipping as well as a major exchange and cooperation base between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

To cope with the development target, Xiamen is in urgent need of professionals in the fields of information technology, chemical medicine, fine chemistry, new-and-high technology, machinery, finance, material currency, trade, tourism, real estate and business services.

Professionals who have overseas studying experiences are especially welcome, the official said.

The city has initiated ten benefit policies for professionals and their families, including favorable working and living conditions.
