The World Packaging Organization has approved the establishment of the Asian Packaging Center in China.
The 1.2-million-square-meter center will be built in Wenzhou, a commercial city in east China's Zhejiang Province, sources from the State Economic and Trade Commission said.
The first-phase of the project, which includes the development of an information and Internet center, an exhibition center, a trade center and a financial building, will cost 3.5 billion yuan (421.7 million US dollars), the sources said.
Auxiliary facilities will include a free-trade processing zone and an international packaging industrial park.
