Chinese Folk Artisans Gather in Art Festival
Folk artisans from across the country gathered in Nanjing in east China's Jiangsu province and exhibited their works to local visitors.
The exhibition on China's arts and crafts is a major event at the Sixth China Art Festival which opened last night. About 200 folk artisans from 16 provinces and regions are displaying over 1,000 folk craft works.
Some of the craftsmen are highly respected such as Jiang Rong, 83, who is good at making clay teapots. There is a story that a plate of clay fruit she once made was so vivid that it attracted mice which left teeth marks on the plate.
Chen Guohuan, the festival organizer, said he believed that the exhibition makes the art festival more complete.
