China Holds Symposium on Cooperation with African Countries

The Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) recently organized an international symposium on cooperation between China and African countries.

The symposium, titled "China and Africa: Challenging the 21st Century", attracted nearly 100 governmental officials, scholars, entrepreneurs and African diplomats.

Chen Jiagui, vice president of the CASS, said that it is very important to discuss the future development of economic and social relations between China and African nations at the juncture of two centuries.

Chen urged to strengthen cooperation among the nations and greatly safeguard their legitimate rights while facing fierce competition worldwide.

The CASS Institute of West Asian and African Studies and the Institute of Asia and Africa under the Development Research Center of the State Council jointly hosted the two-day symposium.
