Trade Fair to Promote China's Investment in AfricaAn investment and trade fair promoting economic exchange and cooperation between African countries and China's Hubei province was hosted Monday in Wuhan, the provincial capital of Hubei Province.The fair will help economic organizations and enterprises in Hubei learn more about Africa, said Hubei provincial governor Jiang Zhuping. According to Jiang, the province is to import more African commodities and improve cooperation with African countries in the fields of agricultural technology, farming machinery, biological techniques and telecommunication. Local steel and automobile manufacturers have set up plants and businesses in African countries, the governor said. Embassy and diplomatic officials from a dozen of African countries including Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria and Mozambique attended the fair. They said investment from China is welcomed in African countries. Last year, the bilateral trade value between China and Africa was recorded at 6.48 billion U.S. dollars. Chinese enterprises set up 351 investment projects in the African continent and signed nearly 10,000 cooperation contracts valued at more than 14 billion U.S. dollars.
