Shanghai Issues Regulations on On-Line Businesses

China's leading industrial and commercial city Shanghai has put into effect a regulation on on-line businesses to standardize activities.

The regulation, which came into effec on August 31, requires all Shanghai-registered enterprises and private businesses who have on-line businesses to apply for and use an e-digital license to carry out on-line commercial activities.

The regulation requires all enterprises which have their own domain names on the Internet to present their licenses on their respective homepages.

On-line traders can also browse the Internet site http://www. sgs.gov.cn, a website on the Shanghai Municipal Bureau for Industry and Commerce, to check the validity of related business licenses.
