12-Year-Old Kid Receives Heart Transplant Operation

A 12-year-old patient suffering from a kind of heart disease has recovered after receiving a heart transplant operation in Shanghai recently.

The patient is believed to be the youngest person who has received a heart transplant operation in China.

Xia Yun came to Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital recently to seek help for his myocardiopathy. At that time, his heart was twice the size of a normal persons. The disease was believed to be in at an advanced stage.

Xia's heart donor was an adult and as Xia is young, the operation proved to be difficult. The 45-minute operation was successful.

With meticulous care from nurses and doctors, Xia has lived through the crisis and discharged from the hospital.
