Chinese National Coach Arrives for IOC Advanced Course
A Chinese national coach arrived in Manila Friday to conduct a week-long advanced table tennis course for local coaches.
Zeng Chuanqiang, who produced the like of world champions Qiao Hong, Wang Nan, Liang Geliang and Lim Hui Ching, was chosen by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Solidarity program to conduct the course starting Saturday, Table Tennis Association of the Philippines (TATAP) president Rufino Go said.
"The intention of this advanced training course is to upgrade the local coaches of the latest techniques in coaching specially now that the size of the table tennis ball was enlarged from 38 to 40 millemeter in diameter," Go said.
TATAP secretary-general Dante Boquiren announced that at least 50 local coaches from all over the country have confirmed their participation in the IOC-sanctioned training course.
