Southern Airlines Boeing 757 Makes Emergency Landing

Due to a serious steering system glitch, a Chinese Southern Airlines Boeing 757 plane shortened its flight and had an emergency landing Tuesday.

The plane with 172 passengers on board, coded No. 2811 belonging to China's Southern Airlines with heardquareters in Guangzhou, took off at 12:30 (4:30 GMT) Tuesday from Dalian, a northeastern Chinese coastal city.

It was scheduled to fly to Harbin, capital of Heilongjiang Province.

Soon after take-off, its captain found out serious problem occurred to its steering systm. For the safety of the passengers and crew, the captain decided to have an emergency landing in Shengyang, capital of Northeast China's Liaoning Province.

Following five hours' reparation, the glitch was resolved and the plane took off at 3:20 am (GMT 19:20 Tuesday) Wednesday, from Shenyang and safely arrived at the Harbin Airport one hour later.
