Banking Sector Urged to Strengthen Ideological Work
Vice Premier Wen Jiabao, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China ( CPC) Central Committee, Monday stressed the importance of ideological and political work in the country's banking sector.
Addressing the 17th plenary session of the Financial Work Committee of the CPC Central Committee, Wen said the financial sector should seriously study and implement President Jiang Zemin' s important speech at the central ideological and political work conference held earlier.
The banking industry manages and controls currencies and funds and holds important duties, he said. Leading officials in the sector must discipline themselves, be fair, decent and clean, and play an exemplary role.
The ideological and political work should be focused on deepening financial reforms and development, strengthen management, and prevent financial risks, Wen noted.
