Singaporean Senior Minister and Myanmese Leader to Visit China

Singaporean Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew will pay a working visit to China from June 11 to 15 at the invitation of the Chinese government.

During his stay, Lee will attend Conference 2000-21st Century Forum sponsored by the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee.

Maung Aye, vice chairman of the State Peace and Development Council of Myanmar, will pay an official visit to China from June 5 to 12 at the invitation of Chinese Vice President Hu Jintao.

Zhang said that the coming June 8 will mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic ties between China and Myanmar. In addition to meeting Chinese leaders, Maung Aye will also attend activities in commemoration of the anniversary during his visit.

This is announced in Beijing Thursday by Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue at a regular press conference.
