PLA Chief of General Staff Meets Myanmar Guests

Fu Quanyou, chief of the general staff of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), met Thursday with a military delegation from Myanmar headed by Tin Oo, chief of staff of the Myanmararmy.

Fu, who is also a member of the Central Military Commission, said that China and Myanmar, neighboring countries, enjoy traditional friendship.

He noted that the five principles of peaceful co-existence advocated by the leaders of the two countries in the early 1950s have become international principles recognized by many countries. Fu said China hopes to work with Myanmar to bring an even closer friendly relationship into the new century.

He also briefed the guests on China's principled position on the Taiwan issue and the building of the military.

Tin Oo invited Fu to visit his country and Fu accepted the invitation with pleasure.
