Dalai Slammed for SplittismA senior Tibetan political adviser Sunday urged the residents of the autonomous region in Southwest China to prevent the Dalai Lama from colluding with elements preaching independence for Taiwan."The origin of instability in Tibet is the splittist activities of the Dalai Lama clique," said Chen Hanchang, vice-chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee. "We must work to achieve the complete reunification of the motherland," Chen said. He spoke in Lhasa at the third session of the Seventh CPPCC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee, which opened Sunday. Pagbalha Geleg Namgyai, vice-chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, and chairman of the CPPCC Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee, said Tibet should work in hand with the national strategy of developing western China, promoting economic and social development and safeguarding national unity. Chen said, in his working report, that the Dalai Lama is a tool used by anti-China forces outside China. People must realize that the struggle with his clique is a long-term, arduous and complex task, Chen said.
