Jiang Zemin Meets Senior Chinese Army Officers
Political Work Conference of Army Academies and Universities Called

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met in Beijing on Sunday with senior Chinese army officers attending a conference on the political work at the military academies and universities.
Jiang, also general secretary of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC), posed for pictures with the participants.
The conference was designed to carry out Jiang Zemin's series of important instructions on the building of the military academies and universities and to explore ways and means of improving the political work at the academies and universities, under the guidance of Deng Xiaoping Theory.
Chinese vice-president and CMC vice-chairman Hu Jintao, CMC vice-chairman Zhang Wannian, CMC vice-chairman and national defense minister Chi Haotian were also present on the occasion.
