China Donates Anti-Malaria Drugs to Nigeria

A well-known Chinese pharmaceutical company has donated anti-malaria drugs worth of 5 million naira (about 50,000 U.S. dollars) to Nigeria, said a source Saturday.

Presenting the drugs to the Minister of Health Tim Menakaya Friday in the capital Abuja, Etim Oyosoro, Managing Director of Churchbells Pharmaceuticals Ltd, the marketing outfit for COTECXIN drugs in Nigeria, said the vision of the Chinese firm in Nigeria was to help fight malaria in the African continent.

While accepting the donations, Menakaya expressed the government's appreciation to the Chinese donor, saying the drugs would contribute to the present efforts of African countries on roll-back malaria.

China's Beijing COTEC New Technology Corporation, producer of the anti- malaria drug COTECXIN, has been invited to attend the just-closed African Summit on Roll-Back Malaria in Abuja.
