Chinese Star Hotels Expected to Rise to 10,000 in Three Years
According to authoritative sources from the National Tourism Administration, China will speed up the assessing work of star hotels and strive to increase the number of Chinese star hotels from the present 3,839 to 10,000 in three years, this will give an impetus to the growth of Chinese tourism which will be run in line with the international practice.
It is reported that appraising the comprehensive qualifications of hotels by granting them the title of star-standard hotels is a common international practice in this field. With the help of the United Nations, China began to introduce the practice of star-level assessment into Chinese hotels for foreign tourists in 1988. In 1993, the standard for star-level assessment of tourist hotels was announced as a national standard by the State Bureau of Quality and Technical Supervision.
