Chinese, Polish FMs meet on ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski at UN headquarters Friday to push forward bilateral ties.

The Chinese government is willing to join hands with Poland to build an "upgraded" bilateral strategic partnership as it cherishes the traditional friendship between the two countries, and attaches great importance to bilateral ties, Wang said.

He called on the two countries to deepen political understanding, respect each other's core concerns and tap into the potential of cooperation in emerging industries in order to inject new vitality into the bilateral relations.

Poland is a strategic partner of China in central and eastern European, Wang said, expressing hope that Poland could play a leading role in China's cooperation with central and eastern European countries.

Sikorski said the Polish government values relationship with China, and adheres to the one China policy.

Poland is full of confidence in the prospect of the bilateral relations as the two countries witness close high-level contacts and rapid development in bilateral economic and trade and investment cooperation, he said.
