PHNOM PENH, July 1 (Xinhua) -- Two dozens of Chinese entrepreneurs in the World Eminence Chinese Business Association have been visiting Cambodia to seek possibilities to broaden trade and investment ties between China and Cambodia.
The group, led by Xia Lingsheng, the Association's executive vice president, met with Tep Ngorn, the 2nd vice president of the Cambodian Senate on Monday.
In the meeting, Xia said that the delegation's visit was to explore potential sectors for investment in Cambodia and to further enhance China-Cambodia friendship relations and cooperation as this year marked the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cambodia.
He said the delegation was eyeing business opportunities in energy, mineral resources, agriculture, tourism, culture and real estate development.
Meanwhile, Tep Ngorn expressed his welcome to the delegation's visit and pledged full support if they were going to invest in those sectors.
He said the visit would help further broaden trade and investment relations between China and Cambodia.
China is the top investor in Cambodia. According to the figures of the Council for Development of Cambodia, from 1994 to 2012, total Chinese investment in Cambodia has reached 9.17 billion U.S. dollars.
On the trade side, China is also one of the leading trading partners of Cambodia. Last year, the bilateral trade volume accounted for 2.9 billion U.S. dollars and it is expected to reach 5 billion U.S. dollars by 2017.
The Beijing-based World Eminence Chinese Business Association is one of the largest Chinese business network organizations in China.
The association focuses on large Chinese enterprises as its main members, according to its website. It has more than 55,000 core members.
