KIEV, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Viktor Maiko said here Friday that his country aims to deepen its strategic partnership and cooperation with China.

"This year we plan to sign a program of enhancing the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the People's Republic of China during 2013-2017. The program will include specific measures to be implemented in various areas of cooperation," Maiko said during talks with Chinese Ambassador to Ukraine Zhang Xiyun on the sidelines of the international business conference.

Bilateral trade between Kiev and Beijing had seen an increase in recent years and reached some 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2012, despite the global economic slowdown, Maiko said, adding the two sides aim to see bilateral trade reach 20 billion dollars by 2017.

Ukraine and China are implementing a number of joint projects in various fields, Maiko said.

For his part, Zhang said China looks to increase its investments in infrastructure in Ukraine.

The first tranche to fund the construction of railway between Kiev and country's largest airport Boryspil will flow to Ukraine in the nearest future.

"Tonight the last local agreement will be signed. Financing of the project will begin next week," Zhang said, adding that construction of the railway will soon start.
