BEIJING, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Vice President Li Yuanchao on Monday met with visiting Peruvian President Ollanta Humala Tasso in Beijing.

Li reviewed the growth of China-Peru relations since the two countries forged diplomatic ties in 1971, citing deepening political trust and fruitful cooperation in multiple fields.

Li said China and Peru's newly-upgraded comprehensive strategic partnership will chart a new direction for the development of bilateral relations.

Li called on the two countries to strengthen coordination, carry out their leaders' consensus and make more efforts to benefit both peoples.

Humala said he is glad to work with China's new leaders, adding that he expects more fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

Humala is paying a state visit to China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. He attended the ongoing annual Boao Forum for Asia in south China's Hainan Province before visiting Beijing.
