Chinese VP meets delegation of International Women's Forum

BEIJING, March 28 (Xinhua) -- Vice President Li Yuanchao on Thursday met with a delegation of the International Women's Forum headed by its president Deedee Corradini.

Li said China attaches great importance to women's development and the equality of men and women, adding that the government is working to ensure equal development opportunities and rights for women.

Gender equality was mentioned in reports delivered at the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) held last November, Li said, adding that Chinese women's organizations will play a greater role in realizing China's rejuvenation, as well as work with women all over the world to promote solidarity and progress.

Corradini spoke highly of the achievements made by the Chinese government in promoting women's equality and progress.

She said she is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Chinese women's organizations.

Chen Zhili, president of the All-China Women's Federation and Song Xiuyan, vice president and first member of the secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation, also attended the meeting.
